Myopia (Nearsightedness)

Nov 2, 2015 Eye Conditions

Myopia is an eye condition that occurs when the light entering the pupil does not bend or refract correctly and falls beyond back of the eye without coming to a single focus on the retina (back of the eye) resulting in blurred vision.  People with Myopia can see objects close up clearly but objects far away can appear blurry or distorted.

Myopia is an inherited eye condition commonly found in the growth phases of young adolescents during regular comprehensive eye exams.

Treatment options are eyeglasses, contact lenses and Lasik.
