Latisse® has been shown to increase eyelash length, thickness, and darkness through its active ingredient, bimatoprost. By lengthening the lash growth phase, eyelashes grow longer and thicker.
Most patients report a noticeable change in eyelash appearance within 1-2 months, with peak results after 4.
Over a course of 32 clinical trials spanning 13 years and involving over 5,700 patients less than 4% of participants noted mild side effects.
With proven results and well-documented clinical trials, the best way to evaluate Latisse® eyelash enhancement is to try it for yourself.
Latisse lengthens the growth phase and stimulates pigment (melanin) formation in the hair follicles to darken them.
Latisse® is applied once-daily to the base of the upper eyelid margin with a single-use-per-eye disposable applicator brush.
Latisse® is the first and only prescription eyelash growth product indicated in Canada to grow natural eyelashes longer, thicker and darker*.
Latisse® users typically start to see longer lashes in about eight weeks, with full growth at 16 weeks. Latisse® is the first and only prescription eyelash growth product indicated in Canada to grow natural eyelashes longer, darker and thicker.
Results with Latisse® can be seen in as little as eight weeks, with full growth at 16 weeks. To maintain results, continued use of Latisse® is needed. Once treatment is discontinued, over a period of several weeks to months (average eyelash hair cycle), eyelash prominence will return to pre-treatment levels.

Although not reported in clinical studies, Latisse® may cause increased brown iris pigmentation, which could be permanent. Therefore consumers/patients should be cautioned against the potential for iris pigmentation when using Latisse®. In LUMIGAN® studies where the same active ingredient is instilled/dropped directly into the eye, iris pigmentation change was a reported effect in 1.5 % of patients receiving once-daily dosing. In addition, when used with the approved single-use-per-eye disposable applicator brush, Latisse® delivers approximately five per cent of the volume when applied to the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes, versus when the same formulation of bimatoprost is applied directly into the eye to treat glaucoma.
In some cases, patients using Latisse® may experience darkening along the upper eyelid where the product is applied, which could give the appearance of eyeliner. This pigmentation may be reversible upon discontinuation of the product.
Latisse® contains BAK (benzalkonium chloride), which may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed prior to use of Latisse® and may be reinserted 15 minutes following its application. For all other eye sensitivities and ailments, individuals should speak with an aesthetic specialty doctor to determine if Latisse® is right for them.
Latisse® is the first and only prescription eyelash growth product indicated in Canada to grow natural eyelashes longer, thicker and darker. Therefore, it cannot be compared to other products. Unlike Latisse®, the safety and efficacy of alternative over-the-counter eyelash enhancement products has not been demonstrated in rigorous clinical studies.
