Presbyopia is an age-related eye condition that affects all adults over 45 years old at some point in their lifecycle. As your eye ages, the crystalline lens inside the eye loses its elasticity and flexibility resulting in less ability to focus on objects close up. This makes it difficult to read and do close up work including computer work. Even people with current eye conditions such as Myopia and Hyperopia will also experience this added eye condition.
Diagnosis is simple during an eye examination with your current eye doctor at Lynn Valley Optometry. Patients will notice symptoms that will encourage them to make an eye appointment such as eye strain, eye fatigue, difficulties focusing and seeing small print, holding text and printed materials further at arms length and squinting to try to focus.
Treatment includes eyeglasses with new technology multifocal lenses, reading glasses, contact lenses and Lasik.
